Diabetic retinopathy. Disease caused by high blood blood sugar.

What is Diabetic Retinopathy ? 

It is a disease caused  by high blood sugar and high blood pressure which can damage the blood vessels in the back of the eye. 

These disease usually affect both eyes, though one can be affected more than other and is caused when a patient’s blood pressure or blood sugar are too high, which can damage the blood vessels that supply blood to the retina in the eye, once it’s been damaged, the vision is affected which can cause permanent blindness. 


Diabetic retinopathy can caused a range of symptoms;

Blur vision, eye floaters , difficult seeing colors, poor vision at night. 

Diabetic retinopathy also increases a person’s risk of developing other eye disease including cataract & open-angle glaucoma.

People may not notice the symptoms of diabetic retinopathy earlier, but having a comprehensive dilated eyes exam at least once a year can help a person catch the condition early to prevent complications.

Controlling diabetes and managing early symptoms are the most effective ways to prevent diabetic retinopathy 


Visiting your eye Doctors at least twice in a year will help to detect it early ,

Keeping blood sugar levels, blood pressure & cholesterol level under control can prevent diabetics related vision problems.
